When God Says NO…

Communication is one of the most important foundations in the formation of human relationships and prayer is the only way to reach our Heavenly Father’s heart. Our prayer life progresses the further we walk with the Lord and it is perfected through practice.

As I grew in my faith, there was a deep concern I had about prayer. I simply didn’t want to be rejected or be told NO. Oftentimes, we don’t pray as much as we should because we don’t want to be told no.

The Correlation of Wisdom and Time… and Pumpkins!

You know summer is over when you stock up on pumpkin-flavored everything because you also know that fall will also soon be over. I mean, it may have started with pumpkin lattes at Starbucks and some delectable dessert choices, but now we have to indulge, or tolerate if you are not a fan of, pumpkin-flavored Greek yogurt, potato chips, cream cheese, cereal, English muffins, bagels, hummus, etc…

Fall season is also the beginning of a lot returning TV shows and also the new and most anticipated ones, such as Designated Survivor and did you guys get to watch my new favorite This is Us?

As we grow older and seasons come and go, time resembles more like an enemy who is constantly reminding us of how we’ve wasted it with our lack of productivity. Our reasoning? We just don’t have enough of it.

But what does wisdom tell us about time?

How to Travel Light in a Heavy World: Wisdom and Worldly Success

I told myself in order to be successful, I had to be perfect.

But that was a lie. In order to be successful, I must be wise.

Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc, Friends) once said,

When the package is this pretty, no one cares what’s inside.

I know one person who cares.

His name is Jesus.

How to Travel Light in a Heavy World: Wisdom Requires Faith

When we take a step of faith, we are not uneducated about the condition of our situation. Our faith comes from practice, not from an arbitrary event.

If wisdom is the vessel to our final destination, then faith is the fuel which ignites our passion for eternity.

Oh, Grief is Where The Light Shines Through

Oh grief, do not consume me. I fear to stop grieving because I simply don’t want to forget her, but at the same time, I’m tired of answering everyone’s questions on how we are doing. You’ve become a slow, calculated, and nagging process; but then you wonder why most choose to skip you. Running away from you was enticing, but choosing you was the most reasonable option. You promise faster healing and relief, while running away from you would have led me bitterly back to you anyway.

Let It Burn

If your house burns down today, what will be the one item (or person) you will grab on your way out to safety? Who or/and what fulfills us? Most importantly, are we willing to sacrifice ourselves to ensure someone else’s safety? All these questions have been invading my mind in the last few weeks because what I thought mattered most doesn’t anymore.

With Gumption!

The first time I heard this word “gumption,” it intrigued me. I didn’t quite understand what it meant, but I really liked it and I wanted to exemplify it. I wanted to live it and I wanted to be it.

Kate Winslet personified it while playing the role of Iris Simpkins on “The Holiday,” my favorite film of all times.

Trump, the Slanderous Leader

This post is directed towards my fellow Christian brothers & sisters who will be participating in the upcoming elections. We must pray for God’s guidance in this decision and we must be careful in selecting a candidate whose character is questionable and indecent for the Oval Office. IF in the past, we’ve been offended with inappropriate behaviors of past Presidents and government officials we didn’t support, what makes us think supporting someone with the same reputation will be any different? I will not be endorsing anyone on this post, but I will be very vocal about who isn’t getting my support– and that’s Mr. Trump.

the getaway

With everything that’s been going on lately, we’ve been feeling like it was time for a small getaway. Since we couldn’t celebrate our wedding anniversary and Kenny’s birthday is coming up, I took my mother’s advice and “surprised” Kenny with going to Naples for two days. (Note: Next time, I must not use Kenny’s Priceline account or else he will find out through an email confirmation and the surprise will no longer be a surprise!)
