I understand being sensitive towards someone you know might be going through it, but I implore you to stop falling into the cracks of political correctness. I’ve been skeptical about writing this post because the last thing I want is to bring someone down who is already grieving. But let me be clear, this post is mostly directed towards you who are not.

If you can take anything from reading this, I want you to go all out and celebrate with the loudest bells and whistles you could find! I know I would if mom was still here and my only hope this year is for you to have that moment with yours. We don’t know the day of our departure, so I implore you, celebrate like it’s the last Mother’s Day you’ll have with her.

I do know a friend whose name is actually Courage.

I thought she was kidding at first,

anyone would merely dream of displaying such formidable surname.

It was 2013 when I met her and became friends

as we served together in a restaurant at a church.

My dear readers, love must first be rooted in our homes as we embrace our spouses, our children, and our families; it then sprouts into our communities through our neighborhoods, schools, and churches. Communication is one of the most important foundations in the formation of human relationships and prayer is the only way to reach our Heavenly Father’s heart. Our prayer life progresses the further we walk with the Lord and it is perfected through practice.

As I grew in my faith, there was a deep concern I had about prayer. I simply didn’t want to be rejected or be told NO. Oftentimes, we don’t pray as much as we should because we don’t want to be told no.
